About Me

Welcome to the Picture The Dinosaur!

We already have something in common - you and I both think (a lot or a little) about dinosaurs.

As a non-fiction writer, I've blogged about a variety of subjects from politics to relationships to LOL Catz, but I found myself constantly migrating back to one topic. Dinosaurs. For a grown women with a degree in English and a full time job at an international non-profit, this obsession with dinosaurs was curious at best, and creepy at...well, usually it just came across as creepy.

Thrilled to be at the Field Museum of Natural History
I can assure you it's not creepy. I like dinosaurs because they are unlike anything I have (or will) ever be able to witness in my lifetime. Because they are alien; their bones the only traces of a vast and powerful empire that human beings will never know.  I like dinosaurs because I can Google the answer to any trivia question, find myself as a blue dot on a map with my cell phone, or stand in the place where Anne Boleyn was beheaded - but I will never touch the skin or hear the powerful roar of a T-Rex.

We desire what we cannot have.

Picture The Dinosaur is a place where you and I can both benefit from my desire to read, talk, write and learn about dinosaurs. Hopefully, the information I post here will come across more interesting than my Stegosaurus jokes do at cocktail parties.

If you have suggestions for posts or dino-topics you want to learn more about, leave them in comments and I'll be happy to do the footwork. I want to know as much as you do how and why dinosaurs continue to capture our imaginations 65 million years after they walked the Earth.

Thanks for taking the time to picture some dinosaurs with me.
